Plan Meals and Grocery Trips Using this Time Table

In addition to storing your fruits and veggies properly, it’s good to know approximately how long the fresh stuff will last. Plan your trip to the grocery or farmer’s market accordingly so that your foods are at the peak of freshness when you plan to prepare them, and you’re not throwing away food that’s gone bad before you get a chance to use it.

So, how long will it last? 
Once you’ve brought it home and stored it properly, you can prioritize your produce. First, eat the things that will spoil quickly, such as lettuce and berries. Save the longer-lasting foods (like eggplant and oranges) for later in the week.

For our third exclusive infographic, we decided to picked up on an issue that really has a visible impact in our lives: Consumerism.

Of course, we all enjoy shopping around, and get access to worldwide items, bought trough a simple click of a button. Or drive around in our brand new cars, feeling free, independent and happy. Or go to some exotic restaurant, and taste the mysterious flavors of foreign cuisine.

But, here’s the thing: when we look up at the numbers behind the impact of those everyday pleasures, and think about the ongoing debate about climate change and the all the other environmental impacts caused by that lifestyle, one thing gets clear: we need to change.

The meditative power of swimming

When I was 25, I went on holiday with my boyfriend to Cinque Terre, a protected marine reserve on the Italian Riviera. The relationship was not a good one, and the holiday was not a seamless week of intimacy. However, one memory will always stay with me. We were on the beach, arguing about some triviality, and my parting shot was to walk away in a huff and dive into the sea. A couple of minutes later, my mood had changed completely.

Treading water in a clear, azure Mediterranean, craggy cliffs surrounding me, I felt a wonderful sense of wellbeing. As I swam further out and immersed myself in the salty water, this sense of contentment got stronger. By the time I returned to the beach, I couldn’t remember what the argument was about – let alone care who had won.
