30-day Spring Cleaning

It’s officially spring (yaaaay!) but along comes the Spring Cleaning (meeeeh!). This is not the first time I try to “spring clean” my small apartment, but I have to tell you, for me is both exciting 😀 and overwhelming D:

Last year we decided to do some research on Organising specialised blogs, to give you tips from the very professionals and make it less overwhelming and exhausting as well. I hope they are useful. Cleaning a little bit every day makes Spring Cleaning a bit lighter and not a torture and such exhausting days. Which in the end I know is very satisfying, I know not everybody is very into this activity, so why not make it a light and organised (family) time?

Go to my last year’s Spring Cleaning post to get details, tasks, tips and tricks for each day.

The fresh juice frenzy is taking over fridges – According to Google; interest about juicers reached an all-time high in January 2013. Millions have embraced this food-culture phenomenon, enjoying a multitude of health benefits.

However, as this trend evolves it is important to be aware of which types of juice yield the most nutritional value. Did you know that currently 98% of the juices sold in the U.S. are pasteurized? Pasteurization uses a cooking process that kills bacteria to increase shelf life, but also destroys the natural enzymes, minerals, and essential nutrients contained in fresh juice.

Reaping the benefits of juicing through the use of fresh fruits and vegetables is more important than ever and is a tasty, easy way to meet your fruit and vegetable requirement. To improve your health – research has found that drinking fresh pressed juices can improve sleep, increase energy, decrease stress, and even lead to a longer life.

Italian Pasta and Sauces Guide [Infographic]

So many shapes, so many choices. We encourage getting creative with any type that catches your eye, but everyone tends to gravitate toward one type over another, restocking the pantry with the same old shapes. For most people, Italian pastas feel interchangeable: fresh, homemade marinara sauce tastes just as delicious atop penne as piled on linguine. But traditional Italian cooking holds a method to the unending list of noodles.

Each pasta’s form and texture play a bigger part in sauce pairings, thick or thin, warm or cold. Sturdier noodles stand up to heavy cream-based and meat sauces while more delicate types compliment oil-based entrées. And of course, a few of our favourites play well with nearly any “gravy” out there. We’ve provided a run-through of accessible noodle-sauce pairings for pasta dinners that satisfy everyone around the table.
