Roasting the Turkey

Hi Alejandra,
I love your website and infographics. They are fun and inspiring. However I see that you eat meat and dairy products and you are concerned about the environment. It’s the meat and dairy industry that is the biggest cause of climate change, deforestation and animal cruelty. I’m not judging you for eating meat but I just want to know how you justify this being ecological and sustainable.

  Thank you for reading the blog and your comment. I’m concerned about the environment and I try to do my best to live according to what I predict: taking care of my body and the planet.
  
  I don’t eat meat on a regular basis. I am not vegan and I can’t say I’m 100% vegetarian either since I eat fish and chicken at least once a month. When I do, I try to buy sustainable (bio, free land, organic, local and fished-lined not farmed) chicken, dairy products or fish. I’m not saying this is ideal, but so far is what I’m up to.
  
  I am a very slim person and before being concerned, or aware, of the environment I didn’t eat much meat already in my childhood and have tried to be put on diet to actually gain weight, my metabolism and genes are just this way but my immune system is not the strongest, ever. So in this concern, I’m not a very disciplined person regarding my diet, I try but I don’t actually eat many grains which can be my protein intake, that’s my justification to eat only dairy (cheese and eggs), chicken or fish. I never liked red meat too much anyway, but I used to be a hardcore lover of milk, until I started making my own oats drink.
  
  You are totally right, if I would be as concerned as I show I am I would go 100% vegan, though in my personal life I think I do but compared to others I might not.
  
  Another reason, this is not personal, is that I tried to create this page as resource bank for people (like me) who are slowly transitioning or are completely new to this. So everything takes baby little steps to achieve something great. This is why also many of the recipes, infographics and ideas I share here are “for beginners” let’s say it that way.
  
  I hope this clears out your question, may not be the best answer though, but I appreciate you have taken the time to write and also for your concern! I try to live more consciously and ethically, I hope I can achieve it someday! 🙂
