Green Documentaries: That Sugar Film | ecogreenlove

Damon Gameau embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy’. Through this entertaining and informative journey, Damon highlights some of the issues that plague the sugar industry, and where sugar lurks on supermarket shelves. THAT SUGAR FILM will forever change the way you think about ‘healthy’ food.

THAT SUGAR FILM (2015)

Damon only eats the perceived ‘healthy’ foods that are in fact laden with hidden sugars like low fat yoghurt, muesli bars, juices and cereals.

“We are not focussing on the wonderful natural sugars found in whole fruits and vegetables. Our goal is to help people reduce the amount of added sugars they are consuming.”
– DAMON GAMEAU

Director: Damon Gameau
Starring: Damon Gameau, and featuring guest cameos from the likes of Stephen Fry, Isabel Lucas and Brenton Thwaites, interviews with Gary Taubes, Michael Moss and Kimber Stanhope plus a rocking soundtrack including Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Florence and the Machine.

  1. This is great. Sugars are in everything we buy! It’s crazy! Even those healthy items. I have tried sticking to only the outer aisles in supermarkets, as everything in the middle is processed, and sugar-laden.

    1. Yes, unfortunately. We stopped buying comercial cereal, not only because of the packaging, but because of the added sugars. Even the ones bought in the bulk shop 😞 but that way we know how much and what kind of sweetener we are consuming. But still, there are some many products we need to be aware of. Thank you for passing by and dropping a comment! 💚

      1. I like that you mentioned the bulk shop cereal too. I have found this as well, and that the sugar levels (even in BRAN CEREAL) there are still ridiculously high. I tend to stick to my oatmeal or kefir smoothies, but even in the smoothies I add maple syrup :S

      2. Yes well, like in everything, is important to keep the balance. I add honey but try to do it measurably. Smoothies and pressed juice I stopped drinking them (prefer to eat the whole food cut and bite) because I noticed I would have a sugar rush and then an hour later I would be starving! But that has to do with my personal body, I’m skinny but my metabolism is quite fast… 😜

We appreciate your feedback! 💚
