While there is a drought in the West and South of the US, in the Northeast we have plenty of water. I think people see water as almost free and so waste it.
Over the past 20 years water rates in the greater Boston area have increased a lot and people complained. We had many leaks and had to stop discharging untreated rainwater into Boston Harbor.
If water was un-subsidized by the Gov’t and consumers paid the full cost, we would see more conservation.
I agree with you, we take it for granted. In México is incredible how expensive the water is, and we have “plenty” of it! most of the electricity’s country is powered by water from states in the South and can you believe is even more expensive for them?? there are so many leaks that people can’t afford to fix, is so sad to see…
