Thanks to fellow green blogger Wasteland Rebel because she provides a list of Package Free shops in Germany and Austria. And I got to find one exactly in Heidelberg (right where we live) that I wasn’t aware of! Now I buy most of my grains, nuts, pasta and other dry goods there!

This was the first time I tried parsnip, back in México I didn’t eat it (neither the celery root or parsley root). I don’t even remember seeing them at the grocery store! But here in Germany is quite common (or at least, I have noticed) to prepare these root vegetables during late winter. Today I tried them myself and I have to admit, they are delicious! They are easy to make, yes, it takes some time to wash peel and cut them all but no more than 15 mins 😉
I hope you try these vegetables, if you haven’t already, and let me know what you think of this recipe!

Some snapshots from my last two morning walks: cloudy rainy days, rainbow and sunny moments showing the colorful “Krokus” flowers which are the sign in Germany of Spring coming, in theory Winter is over, but temperatures seem to drop a little bit again in Heidelberg. Hope you like them and let me know how is at the moment at your side? 💚
Hi everybody, hope you are having a good start into the week!
Here in Southwest Germany we had a cold weekend and it still continues. The area where we live is actually known as the warmest of the country, which means, it doesn’t snow that often, and when it does, it doesn’t layer up too much and does not lingers. It’s been only three years since I moved here but I can tell this has been the coldest winter for me. Today we woke up with -3ºC (smartphone said -7, but I have no idea where the sensor is), for me, a Mexico city girl (pretty much mild temperature), it definitely felt cold! But still, got into my sport pants and went for a walk at 6:40am!
